Got up at 5 and ate a bagel and some Powerade...got ready to go and went to Kiwanis Park where the start is. Got all my stuff ready and warmed up for probably a mile or so with Karl and Hayden. Legs feel a little tired but not too bad considering my mileage this week. There's like 8 gajillion people in this race so me and Hayden (Karl ran the 5k) had to push our way up to the front. There were like 5 guys all dressed up as rednecks being punks and pushing everyone off the line...I contemplated pushing them over at the start but thought better of it...wished I had my track spikes on. he he he. Anyway, so gun goes off. We take off at a pretty fast pace but not as fast as USG. First mile was 5:02. Didn't have my watch so I asked someone and that's what I heard...anyway, the first mile was all uphill and a good bit of the second mile too...then there was a good downhill (the only one turns out) coming down University Pkwy so I dropped a couple of people there. Hayden and the lead pack left us by then but I was still in the top ten and feeling good. Turned onto University and it was pretty flat but I felt very good and got a good pace going and dropped one more guy. It was nice to have all those people there 'cause it motivates you not to slow down and look like a loser. Middle of the race was very solid for me which I was happy about. Felt like I kept much more even pace. Then we turned up center street and the rest of the course was all uphill. And it really sucked because then we started hitting all the 5k people that were slow and there were THOUSANDS of them...I think I ran an extra mile trying to weave in and out. haha. But they really need to separate the 2 races more...maybe different lanes or something. Lots of people complained about that. Felt pretty strong but hills and mobs of people slowed me way down the last 2 miles. Had to almost completely stop a few times to avoid killing people...maybe I should have anyway. Came into finish and never got a good kick because there were too many people and I couldn't get up any speed. But overall I was pretty happy with the race...everyone seemed to have run about 3 min slower than USG so I wasn't too disappointed about the time although it was very slow...I felt much better and I think if there weren't as many people I would have got at least 10-15 seconds faster than I did. So overall a good race and I'm excited for Des News in 3 weeks

PM: 4 miles in the heat to work that long drive out of my legs. very slow and easy. felt good.
