.75 mile warmup and stretching w/ HHS XC guys and got them lined out on their run, then drove to st. george and did the club workout which was a total of 8.5 miles according to Hayden's cool little watch thingy...did 2 repeats up to the radio towers south of st. george...those are killer but felt pretty good...was gonna do 3 but it was getting too late and I needed to go home and get some rest...plus I thought it best not to overdo it. Good day today.

Goal for this week: 50 miles and a good 10k at the Freedom Run up in Provo this weekend. shooting for sub 33:00.

Got my new racers today for this weekend and tried them on... Saucony Type A2...very nice and comfy. I especially like the "kiss this" molded into the heel...attitude! Thanks SGRC!

Guide 208.65 still feel very supple and supportive yet comfortable at 200 miles. I love Saucony!

Went on a late run tonight because I went to Quail Lake with some friends and swam for an hour...very relaxing before a run...anyway 10.5 on the Bench Lake Loop from my house. About 7 min. pace. felt a little tired from yesterday's workout but just went slow and easy and felt better as I went along. Nice temps...only 86 degrees :P

.5 mile warmup. 8 miles up around the West Cinder Knoll to Chevron w/ Johnny, then went on a Fields loop for another 3 miles. Very slow recovery pace. Felt pretty good but it will be good to take it easy tomorrow to prep for Friday's race.

Ran 3.1 miles on the Wash. Co. Fair 5k loop to break in my new racers. Right after work and it was 109...so it was pretty hot. Then got ready and left for Provo with Karl and Hayden and Karl's dad...long drive. Got there and ate and stuff then went on a 2 mile run with Hayden and Karl. It was only 77 but very humid for some reason...and all these girls were honking and yelling at us...well, it was probably actually at Karl and Hayden...but I like to think they were honking at me :)  Legs felt pretty good today considering I did more mileage in the last 3 days than I have in any 3 day period since getting back.  Hope they feel good tomorrow.  Anyway, then went to bed at like 11.

Got up at 5 and ate a bagel and some Powerade...got ready to go and went to Kiwanis Park where the start is. Got all my stuff ready and warmed up for probably a mile or so with Karl and Hayden. Legs feel a little tired but not too bad considering my mileage this week. There's like 8 gajillion people in this race so me and Hayden (Karl ran the 5k) had to push our way up to the front. There were like 5 guys all dressed up as rednecks being punks and pushing everyone off the line...I contemplated pushing them over at the start but thought better of it...wished I had my track spikes on. he he he. Anyway, so gun goes off. We take off at a pretty fast pace but not as fast as USG. First mile was 5:02. Didn't have my watch so I asked someone and that's what I heard...anyway, the first mile was all uphill and a good bit of the second mile too...then there was a good downhill (the only one turns out) coming down University Pkwy so I dropped a couple of people there. Hayden and the lead pack left us by then but I was still in the top ten and feeling good. Turned onto University and it was pretty flat but I felt very good and got a good pace going and dropped one more guy. It was nice to have all those people there 'cause it motivates you not to slow down and look like a loser. Middle of the race was very solid for me which I was happy about. Felt like I kept much more even pace. Then we turned up center street and the rest of the course was all uphill. And it really sucked because then we started hitting all the 5k people that were slow and there were THOUSANDS of them...I think I ran an extra mile trying to weave in and out. haha. But they really need to separate the 2 races more...maybe different lanes or something. Lots of people complained about that. Felt pretty strong but hills and mobs of people slowed me way down the last 2 miles. Had to almost completely stop a few times to avoid killing people...maybe I should have anyway. Came into finish and never got a good kick because there were too many people and I couldn't get up any speed. But overall I was pretty happy with the race...everyone seemed to have run about 3 min slower than USG so I wasn't too disappointed about the time although it was very slow...I felt much better and I think if there weren't as many people I would have got at least 10-15 seconds faster than I did. So overall a good race and I'm excited for Des News in 3 weeks

PM: 4 miles in the heat to work that long drive out of my legs. very slow and easy. felt good.
