Felt really good again today.  Bench Lake Loop with extentions. really good pace 6:45.  Felt unstoppable today and it was great.  No soreness from saturday.

8.5 today around town.  sort of a mild tempo run at about 6:15-6:20 pace.  Felt really good to get out a little faster and shorter today for a change.  I must be improving if I'm saying 8.5 is "shorter"...a few weeks ago that was my long run...yay!

Had a really good run today...10.5 miles out to LaVerkin and a small loop there and back.  6:40 average pace.  Another "unstoppable" day...I've been having a lot of those lately so I suppose that would be a good thing.  I've really been trying to work on my pace this week and average at or under 6:45 which is ballpark for what I want to do in the marathon come October.  I think it's done me good to go a little faster and get out of the 7:00-7:30 grind.  I've been feeling really good this week.  Hope to get some hills or a good fartlek or something going tomorrow to further work on my strength and speed.

Guide:  424.5   probably time to start budgeting for some new shoes...my knees are starting to feel it a bit.

7.5 counting warmup with Karl tonight.  It was nice to run with someone since I didn't get to go to the club run due to my best buddy flying in off his mission tonight.  But the run was great...we started out pretty relaxed around 6:30-6:40ish but then the last couple of miles turned into a tempo run and we were probably down around 6 min. pace.  That was good because I wanted a little bit of a hard workout today.   Felt really good and really strong.

really tired today. I think this week's faster pace, high miles, failing shoes, and a few late nights and early mornings all conspired against me today, so I went ahead and took it easy in anticipation of tomorrow's loooonnnng run that I am planning. Hopefully I'll be able to get some good rest tonight and have a good day tomorrow.

Oh, and I've got some questions about the marathon (i'm running the st. george marathon on oct. 8th i believe), so if anyone has any tidbits they would like to share please feel free:

Question 1: when do I start doing "speed" work and how much of it do I do? what types of workouts are good? I don't know what the heck I'm doing as far as the marathon goes so I don't even know if you really do speed...it's probably definitely not what I, being a former miler/2 miler, would call speed so if you've got advice I'm open.

Question 2: How do I taper for the marathon? What kinds of workouts should I do while tapering? do I totally cut the miles or just ease off a little or what? I'm planning on peaking out at 80 mpw the first week of sept or before...is that too much too late?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

woke up and felt like I got hit by a train.  ran 7.5 easy which I probably shouldn't have done...needless to say I couldn't handle a long run as intended.  Just got worse as the day went on and currently am running a high fever and it hurts to even move let alone walk or run.  Trying to drink a lot but sore throat is making that difficult.  I'm going to bed.  peace out y'all.
