Easy long run up Logan Canyon via the River Trail and most of the way to Wind Caves.  First time I've run that trail in months when it was 100% snow and muck free.  Very nice run, sunny weather and a good pace.  Not a bad way to spend two and a half hours on a Saturday afternoon.  This week has been great running-wise.  I feel like I've turned a corner somewhere in the last week or two and now my body is letting me train the way I want to.

Always nice once you turn the corner training-wise.

That's a fun run- some hill, some fast. You should try going to the ridge all the way above wind caves!

Do you just keep going past the cave to do that?

I did take a little spur off the main trail for a little bit this time that headed more along the face of the canyon instead of doubling back to the caves. One time I want to see where that goes, if it goes anywhere at all.

Joe- listen very carefully- DO NOT listen to Jon for instructions on how to get to the ridge. Go look back at his and Cody's blogs for the entry where he and Cody got hopelessly lost heading for the ridge. it is all documented. I on the other hand can get you there safely. Just let me know when.

PS- no, it is not from the cave. it is the side trail on the right as you are going up maybe a mile back.

ok yeah that's the trail I took for a little bit before I turned around. Does it hook on to something on the other side of the ridge? Like Green Canyon?

yeah, as I remember it comes up on bierdneau somewhere and then you can run down the bierdneau trail into green canyon. I have hiked it before years ago but never run it. I still haven't done any trail running besides river trail.this summer lets do that one!

Joe- 1.1 miles up the trail there is a switchback with a sign that points back towards the wind caves. You want to go straight past that sign- that is the route to the ridge. But it is very overgrown, rough, and steep. Very slow. Still fun, though. Yes, it hooks up with Bierdneau trail that comes from Green Canyon and follows the ridge all the way to Tony Grove. The trail into Green is still snowy.

Scott- for the record, Cody and I were never lost. We knew exactly how to get to the top- just head uphill. But it's true we didn't know where we were relative to the trail. But we successfully found it last month.
